Winter Wool Fair Isle

Sweater: J. Crew     Boots: Tory Burch    Jeans: Paige {mine are petite}
Hat: New Chic     Sunglasses: Polette  (similar)

Happy Friday!  I hope you all have had a great week so far.  This past week has actually been a really stressful one, but I'm incredibly relaxed now that it's at its end and I'm excited for the weekend.

Today's pom pom hat is from New Chic, and it's one of my favorite new pieces.  New Chic is an Asian retailer that reached out to me, and at first I was hesitant to try them out because of the bad experience I've had with Asian retailer Shein (read that story here.)  However, both their PR team and customer service department are polite, proper, and very helpful.  This hat is cozy, the faux fur pom pom is super soft, and it's great quality for the price (on sale right now for under $10!)  You can use my code blog20off for 20% off your order.

I never really liked fair-isle sweaters up until last year, and I've been stocking up on cozy nordic knits ever since, trying to build a collection!  J. Crew does a ton of great ones each season like this one and this one.  I tend to prefer J. Crew and J. Crew Factory's fall/winter releases, since I feel like they are a little more true to what J. Crew used to be.  I think their quality used to be much better, their size chart was a lot less confusing, and their pieces leaned towards classic with a preppy twist.  I wish they would go back to their old sizing system!  Today's XXXS fits like their old XS.  Crazy, right?

Happy weekend!

Flamingos in the Palms

First things first, I have something that needs to be addressed, even though it has absolutely nothing to do with Hawaii, or even this outfit.  You might remember that I've worn a few pieces on this blog from the Asian retailer, Shein, and that I've written a few posts for them.  However, I've received a couple of emails from readers lately telling me about their bad experiences when ordering from this company, and I've read many customer reviews detailing their poor service, with unresponsiveness and return issues being the bulk of the complaints.

I've also experienced firsthand the unprofessional way they communicate to bloggers through email.  In their messages, they call you "dear" or "hun", which I don't find appropriate.  I understand that some of their phrasing is due to a language barrier, but they also ask many bloggers to write posts on their behalf without compensation.  Based on the reviews that I have read online, it would also appear that they give bloggers special treatment, which is definitely not fair to their paying customers.

I apologize for featuring Shein without doing proper research on the brand.  Jean of Extra Petite has written here that she also does not associate with them for these reasons.  In light of these issues, I have decided to stop working with Shein, in hopes that they can improve their customer service and PR department.

Ok, glad that's out of the way!  On a lighter note, this is another outfit from Hawaii, and just writing this post made me miss Oahu's warm, sunny days.  This Lilly Pulitzer skirt in Peel n' Eat is so bright and summery that I couldn't resist packing it.   Peel n' Eat is one of my all-time favorite Lilly Pulitzer prints, and I was so happy to see that they brought it back last season.

Hope you all are having a lovely January so far!

Feather Fringe & Foliage

Coat: H&M     Dress: (similar)    Scarf: WORN ℅  Shoes: Kate Spade    Sunglasses: Polette  (similar)

Today I'm incredibly honored to be sharing not only a holiday party outfit, but also an amazing brand with an amazing mission.  This Foxtrot Scarf from WORN is beautifully made faux fur melded with soft crochet, but it's the story behind it that makes this piece so special.

"WORN is a socially-conscious business of Catholic Charities Fort Worth. Our mission is to provide refugee women living in the United States a supplemental source of income, empowering them to rise above poverty. All products are hand-knit in the USA by women who have survived the afflictions of their war-torn and poverty-stricken homelands."

The entire WORN line is absolutely gorgeous and I highly encourage you to check it out.  This scarf that I received is beautifully crafted, warm, and perfect for the season.  You can read more about their movement here.  Their products would make the most amazing gifts, since they have a tag that tells the recipient about WORN's campaign, and to visit their website at www.wornforpeace.com.  This is a cause very close to my heart.

Thank you to the wonderful team at WORN for collaborating on this post!

Holiday in Honolulu

Dress: J. Crew     Cardigan: J. Crew     Shoes: Old Navy     Bag: Kate Spade
Necklace: Sweet and Spark ℅     Bracelet: Kiel James Patrick     Hat: Eric Javits

Happy 2016!  I hope you all are having a great start to the New Year.  My Hawaii trip is officially over, and as much as I'll miss the wonderful weather and beautiful views, I couldn't be happier to be home again.  I'll be sharing outfits and photos from the trip over the next couple weeks!

I've been obsessed with lace-up flats for a while, and I decided to get them in this taupe color instead of the standard black.  I love the softer effect of the lighter color, and the versatility is a plus too.  I found mine at Old Navy, and they are sold out now, but these are similar and under $50.  These flats are a lot more comfortable that I expected them to be, and although taking off lace-ups is a bit of a struggle,  I'm getting a lot of wear out of them!

This pearl KJP bracelet is one of my favorites from the Atlantic Pearl collection.  You can't really go wrong with bows and pearls after all, so this little Christmas present (from myself!) has been one of my favorite new things.

Happy New Year, everyone!
