Trench Cape & Scalloped Pants // Redone Classics

Trench Cape (): Banana Republic // Pants (): Banana Republic // Bag: Stella McCartney // Shoes: LC Lauren Conrad // Watch (): VOTCH // Bracelet (℅)Kristine Lily // Full Makeup Details on my Instagram

It is finally shifting out of the heat wave that is a California summer, and this week was the first with temperatures below 85 in Southern California.  I'm so ready for fall, and so, it seems, is the fashion scene.  Today I'm teamed up with Banana Republic to bring you the perfect look to transition into fall.

First off, I seriously can't believe I'm collaborating with a brand like Banana Republic here on my little blog.  This is seriously a dream come true and I had such a fun time working on this project.  Banana Republic's new fall collection is seriously stunning, and these pieces I'm wearing today are my favorites.  I wanted to put together a look that reinvented classics like the camel trench and skinny navy pants, and these two pieces really did that for me.

This trench cape is everything: the perfect combination of a standard wardrobe staple and a high fashion piece, and wearing it made me feel so chic.  I paired it with these skinny navy legging pants with the most gorgeous scalloped hem.  I personally love the look of long, tailored skinny pants with a great pair of heels.  This look is such a go-to and I've already worn it to class a few times!

I've started posting my makeup looks on Instagram: something I've been nervous to do for a while but I finally decided to take the plunge and just do it.  I run a beauty Youtube channel and I'm a self-taught makeup artist, so I've been wanting to share my looks on social media for a while.  In this one I stuck with the classic theme and did a gold and neutral eye look with a classic dusty mauve lip.  Full details are going to be on my Instagram if you want to know what I used.

What are your go-to fall transition looks?

Thank you to Banana Republic for partnering on this post.

Flower Fields and Floral Jumpsuits

Jumpsuit: H&M // Shoes: BP (similar) // Jacket: Old Navy // Bag: Anthropologie // Lips: Colourpop "Viper"

Ok, so as you read this, I'm probably on a red-eye flight to New York City, ready to embark on an adventure.  This summer, I had the amazing opportunity to take a month of courses at Barnard and Columbia to get a taste of medical school and life in the big city.  I'm so incredibly excited.  And nervous.  But mostly excited!  Let me explain.

I don't really talk about my age on here, and I don't plan to, but as most have speculated, yes, I'm young.  This blog has allowed me to connect with so many different types of people, from newly-married twenty-somethings to girl-boss working moms.  Most of the people I've made friends with through blogging are women who have settled into their lives, and even though I'm at a very different point, just getting ready to start my life, I've still been able to connect with these amazing people, and for that I am so grateful.  Fashion and creativity breaks age barriers, and I love that I've been able to create this blog and build it without feeling like no one took me seriously.  I feel as though I have a community of amazing older sisters cheering me on, and I love you all for it.

This experience will be unlike anything I've ever done.  For many reasons, I'm scared of it, because change isn't something that comes easily to anyone, especially me.  I'm scared of not making friends.  I'm scared of not knowing what to do.  I'm scared of failure.  But beyond all that, I feel overwhelming gratitude.  Not enough people and young women in the world are blessed with this kind of opportunity.  Not enough women in the world have the right of education, much less this amazing opportunity that I've been given.  I'm so lucky.

I get to live out my dreams for a month this summer, being in the greatest city in the world.  I get to study medicine at one of the best schools in the country, and I'm one step closer to my ultimate end goal, becoming a surgeon.  Even though it's just one summer studying at this amazing institution, my goal is to be back in a few years for med school.  Heck, I even get to see Hamilton, which might be the best night of my life.  I feel so grateful, so blessed, and so humbled that this dream gets to be my reality.  I'll relish every second of it until this month is over.

I can't wait to share this adventure with you guys.  Thank you for your love and support.

Coat: Avoca Ireland // Shoes (): Wills Vegan Shoes // Top: J. Crew {similar here and here} // Skirt: Forever 21 {similar} // Bag: Kate Spade // Watch (): VOTCH // Belt: H&M // Lipstick: Charlotte Tilbury

This coat.  Seriously, I let out a mini shriek when I spotted this in Avoca while I was in Dublin, Ireland.  It's probably the cutest raincoat I've ever seen, but it's super warm and doesn't even look like a raincoat with its lightly waxed outer shell.  I love pairing stripes and florals, so I added the coat over this otherwise simple outfit of a striped tee and chambray skirt.  And then because I can't resist adding more prints, I threw a polka-dot bag in there because why the heck not?

I do have something exciting in store- I'm currently making plans to start a beauty channel on Youtube!  I've gotten super into makeup lately and dabbled into makeup artistry, curating a makeup collection and trying out different techniques.  I also love watching beauty videos on Youtube and I wanted to start my own!  You can subscribe to see my coming videos at Julia Mazzucato.  I'm putting off filming until my life calms down a little- I have a major exam for my college course next week and I've been prepping all year.  Wish me luck!

What are you doing this weekend?  Let me know in the comments below.  Hopefully you're not studying like me.
