Disneyland at Golden Hour

in front of the Haunted Mansion
Dress: Maison Jules     Bag: Stella McCartney     Shoes: Old Navy (similar)    Belt: H&M    Sunglasses: Karen Walker      Lips: Tarte // Tarteist Lip Kit in "Bae"

I'm actually surprised that I've never done a post from Disneyland before, as it's one of my favorite places (not to mention the "happiest place on Earth!)  I'm lucky to have an annual pass so I can go at leisure, and over the past year I've made so many happy memories there.

This flowy midi dress by Maison Jules was so comfy for walking around the park.  I was worried that it'd be impractical but it allowed for a nice range of motion and didn't bother me at all (my shoes were a different story).  I love the dandelion print on the dress and the micro pleats on the skirt.

Happy Sunday, everyone!  Hope you had a great week and lovely weekend!

My Five Favorites in My Closet {2}

A little less than a year ago, I wrote a post called My Five Favorites in My Closet.  It was one of my favorite posts to create, mainly because I love shooting my own blog pictures, and of course, writing about my favorite things!  Now that I'm vegan and I transitioned my closet into one free of animal products, I thought it would be fun to revisit my closet and narrow down my five current favorites!

The pieces I selected are a mix of high-end items and affordable pieces.  Of course, you don't need to spend thousands to have a beautiful closet!  Like the last post I included the prices so you can get a feel of how I like to shop.  I love utilizing sales and I always go through a criteria in my head before I hit Purchase to make sure that I actually like it and a hype isn't clouding my judgement, I will use it enough, and I can make it work in my budget.

Let's get on to my closet favorites!

I first saw this bag online in the beginning of the year, and I fell in love with it.  Stella McCartney is the world's first and only luxury cruelty-free brand- Stella herself is a vegetarian and does not use any fur or leather in her designs and is dedicated to making sustainable and ethical fashion.  Of course, as a luxury brand, Stella's gorgeous vegan bags do come with a hefty price tag.

I was hesitant on shelling out $1800 for the bag- it would be the most I'd ever spent on a piece of clothing.  I finally pulled the trigger and ordered it (thankfully not at full price!) and it just arrived in the mail.  2015 was a really hard year for me in my personal life, and part of me felt the need to treat myself!

This bag is smooth ivory vegan leather with eyelet details, and a buttery vegan suede lining, complete with a gold chain strap.  Not only do I love the way it looks and feels, but it also symbolizes to me that choosing vegan doesn't mean giving up anything- you can still have luxury and designer if you crave it, while still making conscious choices (that may sound superficial but it's true!)  This is my dream bag and I'm don't regret it one bit.

Kristine Lily sent over this gorgeous bangle as a gift, and I am amazed with how well it pairs with almost any outfit.  The metal is great quality and sturdy so it hold up to bending when putting the bracelet on and taking it off.  I love the subtlety of the small druzy stones- they are just shiny enough and look minimalistic and dainty in their setting.

Here's proof that some things are here to stay!  This dress was in my last My Five Favorites post, and it's still one of my most beloved pieces.  I wear this dress so often that people who know me can even recognize it- whenever I wear it my friend remarks, "Hey, Julia's wearing her polka dot dress again!"  However, I actually haven't worn it on the blog in a while now, so I'm thinking I might have to bring back an outfit with this dress.  It's the most high quality thing I've ever found at H&M, and it was the most amazing deal now that I consider how much I've worn it.

I've written about how much I love these shoes by Wills London, a 100% vegan shoes brand based in the UK.  The designer Will is so kind and recently released these two-toned pumps, and he sent over a pair to me!  I styled them and talked about them in this post, and I've worn them so many times since.

These are super versatile and incredibly high quality- I also have a pair of riding boots from Wills London and I am stunned with the incredible craftsmanship.  The vegan leather he uses is absolutely beautiful and so realistic.  The vegan fashion industry is innovating every day and creating amazing sustainable materials!  Wills London shoes are ethically made from the material to the manufacturing process.  It's definitely worth checking out!

This is a definite favorite.  I wore and wrote about it in this post, and yes, I still haven't had any opportunity to wear this beauty.  This was something I bought not because I particularly needed a new fancy dress, but because it made me feel a special way.  The feeling you should chase when you're in the dressing room is when you put something on and it makes you feel like the best version of yourself!  Feeling confident and beautiful is so important, and this dress gave me that.

What are your favorite pieces in your closet?  Let me know in the comments.

Summer Lookbook // Vegan Fashion

Well, hello there!  Thanks for stopping by today.  I've been so excited to share this film that I've been working on for a while now.  It's a Vegan Summer Fashion Lookbook with 88 Handbags, one of my favorite cruelty-free fashion brands!  I'm styling bags from their summer collection in four different outfits perfect for the season.

I've shared these outfits in posts for the past two weeks, but this lookbook features the outfits in motion, close up details, and some of my favorite spots in SoCal!  Please enjoy!  I had so much fun creating this and I really love how it turned out.

All-Black Everything

Jacket: Anthropologie (similar)    Dress: H&M   Bag: 88 ℅    ShoesWills London ℅     Belt: H&M    Necklace: xoxo kait (similar)

This is my 4th (and final) outfit for my #Summerin88 Lookbook.  I'll be posting my project that I've been working with them on for over a month now very soon, so stay tuned!  I'm excited to release that.

I'll be honest, all-black isn't all that practical for California's current weather... it's been hovering in the 90's with a dry heat so intense that I can't bear wearing sleeves, much less black.  I do love the look of an all-black outfit- the fact that it's monochromatic allows you to play with different details and textures.  I love this blazer jacket from Anthropologie, with its fun peplum detail at the bottom and delicate lace body.  You can wear it with a dress like this, or go more casual with a white tee and skinny jeans!  I wore it over this plain, and yes, slightly boring black dress- I do like to get neutral pieces for layering in outfits and using as a base.

This 88 bag is black vegan saffiano leather with gold studs, and I loved how it counteracted the lace jacket with its slight edginess.  I also added on this necklace from one of my friends on Poshmark, Kait (@lynwol).  This is from her own line of jewelry, and I loved the daintiness and versatility of this little triangle pendant.  For the shoes, I kind of broke the all-black streak with the tan cap toes of my favorite heels by Wills London, but hey, that doesn't count... right?

This outfit is my 3rd for my #Summerin88 Lookbook!  I love off-the-shoulder tops and dresses for this season, and I picked up this one at Francesca's recently.  It can actually be worn on the shoulders as well, which I'll be doing to transition it to a fall look.

I haven't posted for almost a week, since I was out on a wonderful vacation to the happiest place on Earth, Disneyland!  I'm grateful to live so close to the park and be able to go often.  It was nice to have a break, but I'm excited to get back into the posting schedule- especially because I'll be posting my special collaboration with 88 Handbags in just a few days!
